Project 28
Empowering Menstrual Dignity in Nepal
In Nepal, millions of women and girls face the harsh realities of menstrual poverty—limited access to basic hygiene products and accurate information about menstruation. This often results in health risks, social exclusion, and missed opportunities. Worldwide, approximately 500 million people lack the resources to manage their periods safely and with dignity.
Our mission through Project 28 is to reduce menstrual poverty in Nepal by educating women and girls about menstruation as a natural, life-giving process. By fostering awareness, hygiene, and dignity, we aim to break the cycle of stigma and provide communities with the tools to embrace menstruation in a healthy, respectful way.
Join us in spreading awareness, advocating for change, and ensuring that every woman can experience her period with the knowledge and resources she deserves.
Expanding Impact and Empowering Women
The mission of Project 28 doesn’t stop with awareness. Over the next five years, we aim to reach 5,000 women across various districts in Nepal by conducting at least 250 workshops focused on menstrual hygiene, health education, and dignity. These workshops will empower women with the tools they need to embrace menstruation as a natural, healthy part of life.
To achieve this, we will establish a robust network of local Project 28 trainers—women who are passionate about making a difference in their communities. These trainers will be well-versed in social and health topics, fluent in both their local language and English, and dedicated to spreading knowledge across the country. Training and supporting these women will be the key to a sustainable growth.
Additionally, we plan to distribute 5,000+ menstrual cups during our workshops. Menstrual cups are not only an affordable and long-term solution for women but also an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional menstrual products. By providing these sustainable tools, we aim to reduce both economic and environmental burdens faced by women in Nepal.
The vision is clear: by 2029, we hope to have built a strong, localized network of trainers, reached thousands of women, and contributed to the transformation of menstrual health and dignity in Nepal.
